Character & Gratitude

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016!

I think this is the first time I write a blog post on the first day of a new year. I'm not going to post any pictures though, more like a New Year's Resolution inspiration? Let's just say this post is more like a short story on how I spent my New Year's Eve to New Year.

To be honest, I wasn't ready for a new year last year (the changing of the day between 2014 to 2015), but I think this year I am readier. Is that a word? Readier?
Maybe because I've had enough breaks, or maybe it's the conscience in me that is willing to change for the better.

People have different takes on what they write for their New Year's Resolutions. Minutes before the clock struck 12, meaning a few thousand seconds before 2016, I was googling about character. Before you point any finger at me mocking for spending my NYE in front of the computer screen, yes I admit it, it wasn't the best NYE celebration I've had which will bring to the second point later. Moving on…

We've heard it a lot of times. Like, a lot a lot. How character is the foundation of your success or the factor that makes you who you are yadda yadda yadda. I don't know about you, but sometimes when I read "inspiring" quotes, these words just passed by my mind for a second before I think about what to eat for dinner. So quotes don't really change my life. It's what I desire to change about myself that will (with actions, of course).

So for 2016, I hope I will develop better characters because I want to live with myself and be happy. In 2016 I want to be happy. And to be happy, I must be thankful first. And not just when things are right, but also when things get rough and situations turn shaky. Being grateful in all conditions will also improve characters. It also works both ways. These are two of my main NY Resolutions.

I'm not going into details too much, I'm just trying to implement these into my daily life.

To close this New Year blog post, I'll leave with some quotes ;)
Hope it will inspire you, readers, before you think of what to have for your first brunch in 2016!
(Brunch because, well, you might celebrate NY by partying all night and going to bed very late / early in the morning, and cannot wake up for breakfast… OK I'll just shut up and cuddle up in my already-cozy PJs and duvet.)

GRATITUDE

"It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy."

BOTH

“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.  And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.  And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.  And be thankful.” - Colossians 3:12-15

'Til next post!
